If the Jabra BT500 (119,99 $ list) looks a little familiar, that's because it is a complement to the model BT250 popularity of the company. And BT500 adds a little battery life, Bluetooth 1.2, but the overall design remains the same, locating the microphone closer to the mouth than most other headsets do. Although the competing headsets like Samsung WEP200 and Plantronics Discovery 645 is much smaller than the BT500, it stands out for its comfortable, stable fit her and easy pairing. However, the design of the traditional headset Jabra head is far from beautiful.
We had no problems pairing phones test our (Samsung SPH-A900 and the Nextel i580) and laptop computers with BT500 0.7 ounce, thanks to the dedicated button enables other Bluetooth devices to discover it.
Contact time on your cell phone, you can use the BT500 to do all the standard headset to answer calls procedures, and make calls with sound, reject or mute calls. One button near the end of the boom mic handle all of these tasks easily, without much of a learning curve.
And BT500 has a hook that fits comfortably on the ear, as well as soft gel earbud, which is located on the outside of your ear canal, rather than forming a tight seal. The result is one of the most comfortable headsets I've tested. Also, stay put even when exposed to strong head-banging. The lack of an airtight seal also lets you hear what is going on around you while you're not talking, unlike headsets that can prevent a lot of ambient sound. Two raised nubs size make it easy to adjust the volume without removing the headset.
BT500 provides visual feedback and fairly straightforward: a blue LED below the surface of the outer edge of the rubber indicates that the device is pairing, active, or on standby. Red means the battery is running low, or to be shipped successfully.
While at home (record directly to your computer), Jabra made voices sound a little bit bassy and muffled, so if you're looking for a headset for use in VoIP, as well as cellular calls, you may want to look elsewhere. But it looked clean through telephone conversations. Although the device picked up a respectable interference from wind amount, and my voice was still audible during gusts. As for the group, it began facing the crackling interference in about 30 feet of the phone without a line of sight obstructions, which is to be expected from CLASS2 Bluetooth device.
Jabra includes a standard AC adapter with the BT500, as well as short USB charging cord is by computer. It was rated rechargeable battery charging to the length of 10 days of standby time or 8 hours of talk time.
